Linette Applegate - garden designer, head gardener and plantswomenApplegate Gardens was formed after a decade of formal horticulture & design by Linette Applegate. Linette is Head Gardener at Toddington Manor in Bedfordshire, a stunning 16th Century Manor house set in 50-acres of grounds open to the public through guided tours and gardening courses.
Whilst studying for her RHS qualifications at Oaklands Horticultural College in Hertfordshire an opportunity arose for a trainee gardener. Working under the close supervision of Robin Mason (Head Gardener to Lord and Lady Bath, Longleat estate) paved the way to her chosen career.
A skilled Plantswomen, Linette tends 6-acres of formal gardens with her team of 5 gardeners including herbaceous borders, croquet lawn, herb garden, potager, Victorian greenhouses and cricket pitch - all awarded a 'Good Garden Guide' star since 1995, for Sir and Lady Neville Bowman-Shaw.

Using her extensive knowledge of all areas of horticulture and design, she worked extensively on the design and restoration of the 6 acres of gardens at Toddington Manor, and in 1999 she opened her bespoke garden design and landscaping consultancy for clients in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire - requiring an experienced and dedicated Garden Designer. In a unique position to merge 19th Century gardening skills with 21st Century technology, Linette created "Applegate Gardens - the online garden designers" to open up garden design and gardening to a wider audience, so everyone can create dream gardens easily - teaming up with Homebase in 2006, 2007 & 2008 to launch her unique range of approx 200 'ready-made' garden and planting designs.
Continuing her trailblazing innovation, in 2008 Linette created The Garden Network - the Internet's first business and social networking website dedicated to the gardening industry, christened "...a social networking site that looks set to become the Facebook of the Horticulture world." by Horticulture Week. Development continues in 2009, as Linette launches the first 3D garden design software solution based on real UK gardening products - suitable for both professional designers/landscapers and DIY beginners. To take a look at 'Garden Design Pro (including the FREE version) CLICK HERE.
