This minimises the need for canes and string, the traditional and time-consuming way of supporting the flower stems.
With many different cultivars offered in the garden centres, the choice is a personal one whether to go for cultivars like;
'Summer skies'- clear sky blue and 1.5 m tall,
'Black Knight'- large violet flowers with black centres, 1.5m,
'King Arthur' - deep violet with a white eye growing to 1.5m,
...to name just a few. Other colours than blue are offered for sale also, including white, cream, pink and red, even yellow, some of which are achieved by growing species delphiniums
